ShareLife Week (May 10-15, 2020) is an excellent time to reflect on how the vulnerable members of our community need support more than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sadly, we know that thousands of people have lost their jobs because of COVID-19. And the current restrictions on public life can make it more difficult for vulnerable people to access the support they need.

Last year, the Archdiocese of Toronto’s parishes raised more than $13 million for ShareLife. These generous donations are being used to ensure young mothers, the elderly, refugees, people with special needs – and many more – can live with human dignity.

However, with our parishes temporarily closed due to COVID-19, ShareLife is not receiving the gifts that are usually offered in the second collection in May.

Just as there is more of a need for ShareLife supported agencies, our parishes are unable to support them in our typical way.

If you are able, please donate to ShareLife.

ShareLife funds more than 40 Catholic agencies that are doing excellent work in your community and it has one of the lowest overhead costs in the country.

Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, recorded a message on the importance of supporting ShareLife at this time.

And please consider the other ways that you can help the vulnerable. Running errands or making a friendly phone call can go a long way in the life of many people during these difficult times.
