On Sunday, January 26, 2020, at 7 p.m., Christian leaders from around the Greater Toronto Area will join together at Yorkminster Park Baptist Church for an ecumenical prayer service to mark the end of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

Cardinal Thomas Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, will speak at the service. He will be joined by leaders from the Anglican Church, Baptist Church, Orthodox Armenian Church, Salvation Army and United Church.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity has roots that date back to 1908. It is a time for Christians to reflect on how we can overcome divisions in the faith and seek reconciliation for past wrongs.

This year’s theme is, “They showed us unusual kindness,” based on Acts 28:2, which recounts the hospitality St. Paul and his fellow travellers received when they were shipwrecked on the island of Malta. The theme calls on us to consider how hospitality can lead to greater Christian unity.

Yorkminster Park Baptist Church is located at 1585 Yonge St. (one block north of Yonge and St. Clair). For information on getting there by public transit and nearby parking, please click here.

All are welcome to attend.
