Children’s Liturgy of the Word Catechists

Children’s Liturgy of the Word prepares children for regular mass. During select weekend masses, the presider will call children to participate in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word following the opening procession during weekend Mass. Lectors

Lectors are young adults or adults who proclaim the Sacred Scripture during the Liturgy of the Word and lead the Prayer of the Faithful in the absence of a deacon. This role enables the Church to hear the Word of God more clearly and receive it more readily.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) Catechists

RCIA is a process intended for adults who wish to enter into the Church and into the paschal life, whether they seek to become part of the Catholic Church through baptism or are already baptized but need to complete their Sacraments of Initiation. The RCIA catechetical team organizes and guides sessions instructing individuals seeking initiation on the whole of the Christian life and helping them to come to know Jesus Christ.

Sacramental Preparation Catechists

These catechetical teams prepare youth for the important celebrations of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Holy Communion, and/or Confirmation. Team members share in the Church’s teaching on the Sacraments by preparing for the celebrations, leading preparation sessions, and providing hospitality and a welcoming environment. They share a love for the Church and an understanding of the Sacraments with the sacramental candidates.

Liturgical Hospitality (Ushers/Greeters)

Ushers and greeters help establish a climate of welcome, helpfulness, and order among the faithful gathered to celebrate the Liturgy. They greet the congregation as they arrive for Mass, provide directions, assist with seating and taking up the offertory collection, and distribute liturgical materials.

Seniors’ Group

The Seniors’ Group team organizes and facilitates monthly programming for seniors that typically occurs following the monthly Mass of Anointing. These social events provide companionship, joy, and community for our senior community.

Collection Counters

Counters ensure the timely and accurate counting of weekly and special collections for the parish. Our counters meet to count collections weekly on Mondays.

Outreach Ministries

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to the Homebound

Ministers visit parishioners confined to their home due to illness, old age, or other circumstances to pray with them and provide them with Communion. They bring a compassionate presence and provide the sick and homebound with a sense of community and belonging.

Ministry of Consolation (Bereavement Ministry)

The Church calls each member of Christ’s body to care for the dying and to comfort all who mourn. Our ministers of consolation make sure that no member of our faith community grieves alone. This ministry provides bereaved parishioners and their families with hope and consolation during their period of mourning following the loss of a loved one.

Parish Committees

Building & Maintenance Committee

The Building & Maintenance Committee works with the Pastor and the Property Manager to oversee the maintenance and repair of the parish’s buildings and grounds. They ensure that the church and its surroundings are a safe and accessible environment for parish staff, parishioners, and visitors.

Parish Finance Council

The Parish Finance Council is a consultative body of lay persons who advise the Pastor on matters pertaining to the financial affairs of the parish. They ensure that the parish follows archdiocesan procedures and guidelines as well as federal, provincial, and municipal regulations. Our Parish Finance Council meets on the third Tuesday of every month.

Volunteer Screening Committee

The Volunteer Screening Committee supports the Volunteer Screening Coordinator with screening parish volunteers. They primarily assist with in-person interviews and the reference checking process.

Liturgy Committee

The Liturgy Committee is a group of parishioners and pastoral leaders who work together to plan, prepare, and evaluate the liturgical life of a parish. They help the parish celebrate the Church’s liturgy faithfully, beautifully, and fruitfully in accordance with the norms and spirit of the Church by planning liturgical seasons and celebrations, supporting the formation of liturgical ministers, and improving on past liturgies.

Lay Associations

Lay associations are a great way to get connected in groups and associations affiliated with the Catholic Church. They are independent of the Archdiocese and of the parish, with their own volunteer screening guidelines and procedures. Please contact the parish office and we can put you in contact with the lay association’s leader.
